Saturday, October 7
9am-12pm

On October 7 from 9am-noon, Harvest Church is taking an innovative approach to community service by empowering our congregation to create serving opportunities within the community.

Instead of organizing a singular, large-scale event (Serve Day), we are encouraging each individual and family to identify a need in their community and serve in a way that speaks to their unique talents and resources. Whether it's by organizing a local clean-up, providing meals for the needy, or simply helping a neighbor with household chores, anyone and everyone can make an impact.

Please note: Groups will not meet at the church in the morning, and childcare will not be provided that day.

Saturday Serve is all about YOU taking initiative and creating a serving project in our community. Please remember, before launching any project, it's important to communicate clearly with any local organizations or property owners. Here are some ideas of projects you can organize:

  • Food Drive: Collect non-perishable food items to donate to a local food bank.

  • Clothing Drive: Gather gently used clothes for homeless shelters or those in need.

  • Neighborhood Cleanup: Pick up trash and beautify public spaces in the community.

  • Book Drive: Collect books to donate to schools, libraries, or community centers.

  • Senior Center Visit: Spend time at a local senior center, playing games, or just talking with the residents.

  • Hygiene Kits: Assemble and distribute hygiene kits for those in need.

  • Ramp Building: Construct wheelchair ramps for homes that need them.

  • Hospital Visits: Go to a local hospital to visit patients who could use some cheering up.

  • School Supplies Drive: Collect school supplies and distribute them to children in need.

  • Home Repairs for the Elderly: Offer minor home repair services for the elderly or disabled.

  • Car Wash: Offer free car wash services, perhaps asking for optional donations to a good cause.

  • Laundry Services: Offer to do laundry for low-income families or the elderly.

  • Distribute Water: Hand out bottled water and snacks to homeless people.

  • Music Lessons: Offer basic music lessons in instruments your church members can teach.

  • Habitat for Humanity: Partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or renovate homes.

  • Gift Baskets for First Responders: Assemble and deliver gift baskets to local police stations, fire stations, and hospitals.
