Saturday, October 29
8:30am-12pm

The vision of Serve Day is for us, the local church, to go out into our community and be the hands and feet of Jesus as we love our neighbors, share the gospel, and serve others in love through simple acts of kindness.

On Saturday, October 29, we will gather together to start the day with a brief Serve Day Celebration at 8:30am in the Worship Center. Afterwards we will dismiss and break into teams to complete our Serve projects. Please note: Childcare will not be provided for Serve Day.

The first thing you need to do to prepare for Serve Day is to download the Serve app!

The Serve app is an incredible tool that will help us involve more people in Serve Day projects, match volunteers to the projects that best fit their passions and gifts, plan projects efficiently, and communicate to more people effectively.

Use the links below to download the app to your phone or tablet.

HOW TO USE THE APP:

  1. Open the Serve Day app and follow the prompts to enter our church name. Search “Harvest Church Dothan.”

  2. Sign up to create a new account (or if you already have an account, simply log in). Enter your email address or phone number to set up your account, and create a new password.

  3. Once you are signed in, click on the “Fall Serve Day - 2022” button.

  4. You can now view, join, and create Serve Day projects!

These are our five foundational projects that anyone can join. Click on each one for project details:

  • WHERE: Dothan Police (210 N St. Andrews St.) + Houston County Sherriff's Office (144 N Oates St.) + Dothan Fire & Rescue (600 Columbia Hwy)

    WHEN: 9am-12pm

WHAT: This team will either have three separate teams or one traveling team (based on the number of volunteers). Teams will pass out food items (Jimmy Johns, Subway, Barberitos, etc.) and speak to staff as they come and go. There will be tables set up with information about Harvest Church, Harvest Men's Ministry, and small groups. Team members would also be available to pray with those in need.

  • WHERE: Hodgesville Road Laundromat (1370 Hodgesville Rd.)

    WHEN: 9am-12pm

WHAT: Team members will pass out care bags (assembled beforehand by a separate team) that contain basic care items. Team members will be available to pray with those in need.

  • WHERE: Rural King (2185 Reeves St.) + Dollar General (12630 Westgate Pkwy) + Family Dollar (1707 Montgomery Hwy)

    WHEN: 9am-12pm

WHAT: This team will heavily focus on evangelism, spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ! Team members should be comfortable speaking with people with whom they have never met. This team will pass out either cold soft drinks or hot chocolate, depending on weather. Team members should be relational and be comfortable telling others about Jesus. Follow up is crucial, so you will be tasked with collecting information with those that feel comfortable and passing it on to pastoral staff.

  • WHERE: Henry Green Apartments (602 South Lena St.)

    WHEN: 9am-12pm

WHAT: This team will focus on connecting with kids in the Henry Green Apartments and the surrounding areas. Inflatables and face painting will be set up. Members should focus on making connections with kids and their parents. This is a family-focused outreach opportunity, so team members should inquire if persons are connected to a life-giving church in the area.

  • WHERE: Medical Center (1108 Ross Clark Cir.) + Flowers Hospital (4370 W Main St.)

    WHEN: 9am-12pm

WHAT: Team members will visit nurses stations and ICU rooms to pray with any who are open to ministry. Care packages will be provided to include information about Harvest Church and small groups. Members should be comfortable respecting any hospital rules established for patient care (e.g. wearing a mask if required). Team members should also be ready to collect information from those requesting follow-up.
